Self Portrait WIP
I’m desperately trying to get back into drawing. Dx I miss it. So I’m trying to teach myself how to use my tablet first, I guess. :/
…There may or may not have been a small or possily large amount of trace-work involved in this piece.
Self Portrait WIP
I just heard this girl say she tried not to wear “scantily clad clothing”, and being the nit-picky language nerd that I am, I kind of just
Les WordGirlables - a collaborative crossover piece between ThisBirdTooHasFlown and myself. ^_^ I did the character lineart, and she colored it and did the whole background with her amazing coloring skills. C: It’s referencing the song “A Heart Full Of Love”. =’]
I wasn’t going to post
or finish this, but SarcasticLeaves seemed to think I should. ;P Excuses. Plus it’d be a shame to work so hard only to NOT scare the fandom with it. I’m using a text post so I can put my rambly description under the break.

Thanks. xD I did turn it into some boxes, though. I think it makes the geometry a bit less noticeable. ^^;
I’m really bad at backgrounds. Also perspective. And definitely proportions.
Honestly probably what I should’ve done was actually draw a decent background in pencil instead of just being all “oh, I’ll make a nice background in photoshop” ‘cause this isn’t working out. XD
Geometric, disproportionate, oddly colored furniture.
I am a true artist. =P
Maybe I’ll change the color and use texture to turn it into a pile of cardboard boxes or like a bench or something. I don’t even know. How do you draw furniture?
This turned out weirder than I planned. :T Pretty sure I messed up the hair. And the shoes… I don’t even know what happened. The crossover was kinda hard to adapt into my “style”… plus I don’t have a lot of practice drawing Ms. Question.
I promise I’m almost done with these crossovers. Then I’ll post to dA again and hopefully get around to non-crossover art.
'Cause I'm kind of tired of crossovers right now. It’s just getting harder to find time and money to keep up this hobby and I just feel kind of sad about art right now.
I felt like posting something, and I’m not sure how finished this is, but take it anyway. I might tweak the colors before considering it actually done.
Ya know it’s never until I get these things full of color that I realize how off my proportions actually were. When I first drew the lineart I was really proud of myself for drawing Nocan, and I thought I did his body-type fairly well. But now I don’t like it anymore. Hm. Ah well. I couldn’t expect better, since I only drew him once before in October/November of 2011.
Also I didn’t give him crossover hair like I did for LRW (except I actually did hers wrong, whoops) ‘cause Imaginary Man’s suit totally covers his head and face and I didn’t know how to adapt it. So I just settled for Nocan’s regular flowing locks (which could stand to be a little poofier actually, as could LRW’s) and just colored his headband differently. Plus I added the mask-thing.
I might need to lighten the dress ‘cause you can’t see my lineart unless you zoom in more. :<
Did someone say “platonic internet married”?
Yeah, I think they did.
Lol what are hands and proportions and height differences and eyebrows and faceshapes and basically how do I art? I might redraw a more accurate/proportional version later. The mistakes are really bothering my OCD-ness.
just kidding actually there’s a bit more I just couldn’t find it or gave up on scanning it the random things I’ve scribbled in the last several months when I was too busy to draw real things. And these are all pen, which means mistakes abounding, crap proportions, everything unfinished, stuff getting cut off by page edges, scribbly (and oddly sharp looking) hair, awkward guidelines, random stand-alone facial features, a lack of detail (though to be fair for the fandom scribbles - I didn’t have reference for any of them on me at the time), a mish-mash of original stuff and fandom stuff and also some thing that I really just don’t know what they are, and just a general lack of consistency of style. :T
I’m mostly posting these just to get myself to remember that it’s okay to post sketches and “unfinished” things… ‘cause it’s been a long time since I could draw something without feeling like I have to clean up the ENTIRE lineart and coloring it and adding some sort of vague background. ^^; (Baby steps, guys, baby steps…)
I had to put them in a sketchdump though, ‘cause I still don’t think any of them are good enough to stand alone. Although the thing about pen doodles is that, even though I never like the result, sometimes I just have to draw in pen, because if I draw in pencil I’ll end up either giving up really early on or spending more time fixing something than I really have time for (since you can erase). But drawing in pen forces me to at least get little things done in a fairly short amount of time, since there’s no going back. So it’s a good outlet, even though I don’t get adequate results.
…They were a pain to find, scan, and arrange, too. xD (Sorry some of them got a bit blurry. My scanner is difficult to handle.)
