Freeze, turkeys!
So this is Soup2Nuts’ twitter page and I saw this weeks ago ONLY THE STATUE DIDN’T SHOW UP ON MY SCREEN BECAUSE THE IMAGE WAS CUT LOWER so it wasn’t nearly as interesting and I only found out today from SarcasticLeaves that it looks like this on her computer (I guess there’s a trade-off because mine is wider and shows the rest of Tobey’s hand and CHF’s head), so she sent me this image and refused to post it on tumblr herself, but I just think the fandom deserves this potential spoiler. xD Don’t blink, WordGirl.

What a minute! Is that….?

Hey, remember this old crossover? Well I actually finished it! (I bet you thought I never would, right? I didn’t think I would finish it either. xD)For those of you who missed the draft (and actually give a crap), this was my MabelPines!VictoriaBest crossover. ‘Cause… same voice actress… and they’re both annoying as crap. Sorry, not meaning to character bash, but I really just can’t stand either one of them. But I tried something different with this crossover. Instead of picking one of the many outfits from the show, I just did a combined outfit instead. Which I pretty much never do. It was kinda fun. :DThen I got lazy and tried to trace the picture instead of just cleaning up my pencil lines, which is why the lineart is kinda wobbly and inconsistent. :( Also I don’t even know what that pose is. I really don’t remember what I was going for.Anyway, I’ve officially filled my quota for drawing at least one non-DTB-or-LRW character per every dozen pictures. ;P

The Lady Redundant Woman Character Analysis I Never Got Around To Posting

So this is that character analysis that I mentioned a few months ago. I’ve edited it several times, and have now finally decided to post it because a few people have seemed interesting. Yes. I know it’s really long. (And I tried to organize it so that the thoughts would flow smoothly and not be confused, but… well, there are a lot of thoughts there and organization was incredibly difficult, so I’m not sure how well I did.) But if you read all the way through it and don’t adore Lady Redundant Woman’s character by the end, then I have done a terrible job of analyzing her character.

*ahem*

Lady Redundant Woman, in my opinion, is very intriguing as a villain because she doesn’t quite fit into the normal pattern. First of all, while her motives for crimes are pretty much always selfish, like any other villain, they tend to be rooted in some sort of point about humanity in which she feels completely justified. True, there are times when all the villains are just running around recklessly in the background, robbing random places. But consider the episodes actually based around her specifically. In “Line Lessons of Lady Redundant Woman” and “Road Rage, Anger, and Fury”, she was more than content with being an average, law-abiding citizen until she got this notion that basically everyone was against her for whatever reason. She only commit those crimes because all she wanted was for people feel hurt the way she did - she just wanted to be understood. That’s something anyone can relate to (which is part of what makes her a good character). In “Lady Redundant Woman Gets The Blues”, she wasn’t taking the Royal Dandy painting because she wanted it - Lady Redundant Woman only wanted to prove a point. She was curious to see if people would notice if the original was gone, because it personally offended her that some people *cough*Dave*cough* think the ‘original’ is always better. (However, this makes her a hypocrite as she makes her oh-so equal copies do all her menial labor, and in the very same episode she says she ‘only needed [them] for a ladder’. But that’s another story.) She thought she was just supporting her principles, however illegal they might be. From Lady Redundant Woman’s perspective, she was committing these crimes defensively. That’s why I’ve always seen her as a defensive character, despite her loud outbursts and stubborn in-your-face/take-that attitude.

But why might she be defensive, you ask? (Okay, so you didn’t ask. Just pretend you care, alright?) Well, Beatrice always seemed very insecure to me. Because of that, I think she’s just very easily hurt (which is how she appears in “Line Lessons With Lady Redundant Woman” and “Road Rage, Anger, And Fury”, among other episodes). Then she doesn’t know how to deal with her injured feelings besides getting angry and trying to act superior to others in order to keep from appearing to be weak. While she acts more openly insecure while being Beatrice, frankly I think she’s still quite insecure even when being a villain (one example that I’m going to type up here, since I don’t know where else to put it in this monster of an analysis, is in “The Young And The Meatless”. She was so ready to just ASSUME that The Butcher meant to insult her, that she turned his words into an insult and ended up actually being insulted). However, despite the insecurity, she feels more powerful when she’s being her villain-self because it’s the identity that has outward notoriety. People know who goes with the name ‘Lady Redundant Woman’ because she commits crimes and goes to jail - she’s on TV (Heh, she even went on that one ‘Lair You Have It’ show in “Seeds Of Doubt” and in “The Young And The Meatless” when the news was reporting her almost-crime, she got all excited and said ‘We’re on TV!!!’). No one really knows who the little copy-shop worker is.

Though her desire to become manager might make her seem power-hungry at first glance, it can also be argued that what she really wants is respect - and she thinks being manager will gain her that respect from her fellow employees. In her first episode, her whole plan was to become manager by getting the other employees to like her more simply by making the breakroom ‘fabulous, outstanding, [and] top-of-the-line’. (And while I’m on that point, she’s definitely concerned with her appearance. At least, her villain appearance - the one she thinks people care about. She said she liked her villain outfit [obviously she wouldn’t settle for something she didn’t like since she was going to be seen in it publicly so often], and she’s referred to herself as ‘elegant’, stolen fancy clothes and jewelry on multiple occasions, etc. So she’s clearly worried about what other people think of her - tying into the defensive point from before. If you think about it, she may even feel that she has to make up for her blatantly disagreeable personality with her looks. She was at least irritated that The Butcher found Dupey so much more attractive than her, even though they’re physically identical, so maybe she realized that she’s lacking in other traits, like personality? Just a random theory.) Moving on, the whole reason for her crimes in “The Return Of The Reprise Of Lady Redundant Woman” was wanting to be the Belle of the Triple Dip Ball - another attempt at gaining respect. This is part of what leads me to think she isn’t just power-hungry. Becoming Belle of the Ball wouldn’t actually give her any power. Beatrice just wants affirmation that she’s as fabulous as she thinks she is. (In her first episode, she made a duplicate for the sake of ordering it to tell her how amazing she was. Think about that. How sad does that make you feel for her?! If you ask me, she just wants to hear some praise every now and again. She has to tell herself she’s amazing because no one else will! *cue gross sobbing*) Moreover, in “Line Lessons With Lady Redundant Woman”, when she was essentially holding the people hostage, she ended up sitting on The Mayor - this just gave her the appearance of being stronger. Overcoming the city’s elected leader and all. It also didn’t actually give her any additional real power; she probably just thought it made her look better in the eyes of the city’s people. Again - she wants respect, so she tries to put herself in a position above (lol, quite literally in this case) that of the city’s elected leader (regardless of the fact that he isn’t exactly esteemed, if ya know what I mean). She also ran for Villain Association President in “Clean-Up In Aisle Eleven”. Even though she might not get along with people in general, even the other villains, she definitely seems more at home around them (I mean, of course, why shouldn’t she? By that I mean when they’re in big groups she doesn’t really cause trouble or speak up too much) and still wants their respect - and becoming one of their ‘leaders’ probably sounded like a good way to do that.

On a different but related people-type-issue - though she loves working with the copy-machines, Beatrice is clearly not entirely happy with her job. She has trouble dealing with the customers (in multiple episodes) and just being nice to others in general. Poor social skills and all (really, even when it comes to the other villains which I just said she tends to be a little more comfortable around, that’s only in the big groups. When it’s just one or a few at a time - how many have we seen her really get along with? Oh. That’s right. ONE. *gets shot* Okay, maybe two if you count that time she high-fived Leslie. Not that we’ve really seen her directly interact with many of the villains to begin with… But seriously, she doesn’t even always get along with herself. That says something.). However, she must have some small concept of etiquette and morals because she still tries to be nice to people until they start to really get on her bad side. Think about it - she doesn’t insult Dave to his face. She waits until he’s out of ear-shot to complain about him. And I don’t think it’s for fear of her job, because it’s unlikely that Dave would fire her even if she was rude to his face. XD He probably wouldn’t even know she was being mean, lol. (And off-topic for a moment, but about Dave. I think she doesn’t like him because she mistakes his kindness for patronization and feels looked down on. Like, she thinks he thinks she’s a weak little kid or something.) While she got disgusted with the rude behaviors of others in “Line Lessons With Lady Redundant Woman”, she tried very hard to remain polite herself (and even seemed genuinely apologetic and ashamed of herself in the end of the episode for the trouble she’d caused for everyone). When actually confronting the rude people, she seemed to get very nervous and submissive. (In general, I’ve noticed when she’s just being ‘Beatrice Bixby’, and not Lady Redundant Woman, her voice tends to be softer, quieter, and higher-pitched, and she actually stutters quite a bit. Sometimes she’s even on the clumsy side I mean, she’s fallen or been knocked over in like four separate episodes [which might be a function of her heels, but who knows]. The clumsiness was predominantly in her premiere episode, so [in theory {well, my theory}, she felt a lot weaker at this point because she didn’t have super powers yet]. That also ties into the point about insecurity and lack of confidence unless she’s got her facade on [because she definitely seems more confident as ‘Lady Redundant Woman’ but only to an extent].) And like I said, eventually she brought herself to apologize to everyone and thank the newsman for wishing her a good time in jail, etc. Just because she’s often cranky doesn’t mean she’s always going to have this mean and nasty disposition right off the bat. I mean, I mentioned before she doesn’t really get along with too many of the other villains personally, but if you think about it, she didn’t even start being too actively rude towards The Butcher ‘til the end of their episode (and in that same episode, she even said ‘excuse me’ why shoving CHF over. Sure it wasn’t polite by any stretch of the imagination, but it still sort of fit her character to say something that sounds polite, even if it’s done kinda sardonically). It just seems to me that when she starts getting too socially-annoyed by one of the other villains, her desire for their respect ceases to outweigh her irritation with actually having to interact normally with them. But even then - it’s not an automatic dislike. Ms. Question was kinda rude to her in “Cleanup In Aisle Eleven” and she didn’t fly off the handle - she actually accepted blame maturely instead of going on some superiority rant. Etc. (So basically it’s all about the balance between her morals on politeness and her desire for respect, but also her social issues and insecurities. Certain things shift that balance, and that’s what influences how her character acts in certain situations… which is pretty much how people work in real life.) The fact that she tries so hard to be nice, unless provoked, despite the fact that she clearly doesn’t enjoy trying so hard, just goes to show how much she cares.

Yes. As weird as it sounds - Lady Redundant Woman can, in some cases, be labeled as ‘caring’. Just think about the whole episode “Lady Redundant Woman Gets The Blues”. Her treatment of her favorite copy-machine is so hilarious that it’s ridiculous. And so ridiculous that it’s hilarious. Though she doesn’t value many things, if it’s important enough to her - even if it’s not a person - she’s going to protect it. (Again, she’s a defensive person.) In fact, for someone who seems like they might have a general disdain for children (i.e. she dislikes WordGirl more than a bunch of the other villains, and she couldn’t stand The Royal Dandy), she comes off as surprisingly motherly to her copy-machine. I mean, she put a blanket over it at nighttime, for crying out loud. To her it’s as good as, no, better than a person. Why? Copy-machines can’t talk. They can’t be rude to her. They’re one of the few things she has full control over - a comfort zone thing for her, if you will. I think she likes being in control because she’s insecure, and it makes her feel safer. Anyway, she would probably apply that same sort of nurturing behavior to a person… if she liked them enough. But think about it - she couldn’t stand The Royal Dandy, yet she still didn’t immediately erase him. (She claimed it was because it’s hard to get rid of duplicates, but she gets rid of her own all the time, so that doesn’t make much sense to me. I’m not saying she liked The Royal Dandy at all, but it just relates to the subtle caring nature in general.) She also gets annoyed at the ButcherxDupey issue, but she doesn’t delete Dupey ever. So she must have some once of feeling in that regard. As earlier stated - she doesn’t let Dave know she can’t stand him not that he would even notice if she did let on. It seems to me that she has to care about others at least a little. There is also very minor ‘evidence’ in this show (“Line Lessons With Lady Redundant Woman” and “Granny’s Pet Plan”) which suggests that Lady Redundant Woman owns dogs. So perhaps she also cares about animals, or certain animals at least. Like the copy-machine, she probably simply prefers them to people since they can’t talk except for CHF who sorta ‘talks’, but guess what? She smashed his face in the copy-machine in “I Think I’m A Clone Now”. If this is the case, it might even suggest that she has an unadmitted need for companionship. Because even when she’s surrounded by herself, she’s still alone.

I feel like I should add something to this… and there are several things in the lineart I’m not pleased with. But given the circumstances and how much time and energy it would take to change it, I guess this is the best I can reasonably hope for. :/ I’ll try to be content with it, I suppose. I mean, I am trying out some new techniques, so I’m guess I’m glad with the fact that they didn’t crash and burn… xD But I feel like my lineart in general has been having trouble lately… hm… maybe it’s my tiredness and lack-of-a-pencil-I-like. :T Actually, it’s weird. I think I’m just looking at even more details. ‘Cause sometimes I look at my lineart and feel less pleased with it than I had been, but in some ways when I look at it I realize that I’ve managed to fix some of the things that were problems in my older art… so I’m really conflicted about art in general right now. @_@ Also, I apologize if anyone used this idea before. I don’t remember that anyone has, but I’m so bad at getting ideas for these two, that I’ve just come to start assuming that anything I come up with has been done already. ^^; I don’t know what I’m doing with my art style anymore. :$ And I don’t just mean the outline thing. I mean, I keep using different combinations of attempts at realism, but then lately I’ve been trying to bring back in a few more show elements and now I’m just all befuddled and junk. -__-|| I mean, I can’t even decide on color palettes. I feel like some people make art so simple. They pick a color that’s close and stick with it. I, on the other hand, will spend a half an hour trying to decide if WordGirl’s suit needs a tiny bit more red or not, and if Tobey’s pants are too light compared to his vest! *dies*P.S. - Becky, why is your face so freaking hard to draw asldkfjaslkdfjasdf?!?! Trying to draw her just isn’t a pleasant experience for me IDON’TEVENKNOWANYMORE. :(

So I decided to try doing digital lineart. It didn’t go well. :< I mean, it could’ve been worse, but the lines are still more wobbly than I’d like. And after hours and hours of tweaks which didn’t really do much good anyway… it looks like a 10 minute doodle. ^^; GOSH, I didn’t even give him hands. I haven’t cheated this badly on a piece of art in awhile. I’m kind of ashamed of myself. :/ I just wanted to finally do some Mr. Big art (I always really liked this outfit), but I feel like I didn’t put enough work into it. Even though I spent hours on this one. alskdjfalskdjf It’s a paradox. :[I guess I would just need to practice drawing him more. I don’t think it looks enough like him… :TI think I’m going to go back to pencil lineart. Although I lost the pencil I was using while in the middle of drawing my next TobeyxWordGirl picture (doesn’t it just figure it would be that one?!), so now I’m like “hngh, I don’t want to find a new pencil and the picture’s probably gonna look weird and blahblahblaaaaaaah”. *whinecomplaingripe* But we’ll see. :/ I just wish I could get things done more quickly, ‘cause I just don’t have the kind of time to spend so long on art and only wind up with something like this. I am displeased with so much of this picture.

Coloooooored. Not sure if the colors are that great or not. XD As per usual I feel like I can’t color match right. :T Stupid eyes of mine…I still don’t really think that’s how someone is supposed to hold an accordion but okay.

Finiiiiiiiiiiiished. :D I’m actually surprised I finished it today. But I guess I get more artwork done when I’m lazy with actual responsibilities. XDDD Might end up making a few more edits eventually if need be. I’m not sure how happy I am with the recorder in particular. And my color matching might be more off than usual. I can’t really tell for some reason. ^^;Ironically enough, I think this picture being colored makes it look way better than it was before. I mean, the color helped more than color usually does. XD It kind of makes me like the ship more, stupidly enough. ^^;My art has been so stupid lately… XD But at least it’s fun. :]

Yup. Huntoria. I crack-ship it. Only one-sided though. XDI might color this if I find the time and energy, but for now I just wanna post it ‘cause I feel like I don’t post enough. :P Actually, I have a different picture I could post too, but I really don’t think anyone wants to see it, minus one person who knows who they are. XDDDDI wish I could just get myself to draw normal art. ^^; But at least this isn’t too terribly weird? As far as ships go? A surprising amount of people I’ve spoken too about these guys have said that they either already shipped it, or that I just gave them an epiphany about the ship and they totally support it. I think I might’ve even seen some fics with these two shipped in them on fanfiction.net. Hm.How do you even draw recorders?!

Okay so you know how a lot of school’s keep computer records of which family members are allowed to pick children up from school, for security reasons?

What if Tobey hacked into his school’s account of him and listed a bunch of the adult villains as people who were allowed to pick him up from school so whenever they decide to go on a massive crime spree all at once, one of them could come get him and he’d be technically excused from school. XD

Seems more convenient than trying to sneak away, if you ask me. Besides, if he gets too many tardies because of villainy, he’ll have to flunk and retake the whole year. O_o

…I don’t know why these things come to mind. XD
